Prof. Vassilios Fanos has been awarded by ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) for the Leadership and Impact on the Mediterranean Area, due to the organization of 22 International Workshops on Neonatology and Pediatrics in Cagliari Italy.
We are pleased to invite you to the 22nd International Workshop on Neonatology and Pediatrics
to be held in Cagliari, Italy.
This follows the success of the previous 21 editions, 19 in presence and 2 online, which saw the
overall presence of about 13,000 participants in presence and 700 online. This 22nd Workshop
is an important milestone and is recognized by several international and scientific societies.
Some of the world’s most renowned specialists from more than 60 different countries have been
present in Cagliari in these years. The Workshops have received the High Patronage of the President
of the Italian Republic (6 years) and UNICEF (4 years). Due to the organization of this meeting,
Prof. Fanos has been awarded in 2021 as “Italian Knowledge Leader” by the National Institute
of Turism, Convention Bureau Italy under the Patronage of Ministry of Turism. The Workshops
have created a network of scientific and human relations that have changed, improved and enriched
us all see the History of our Workshop:
In 2019 the meeting was followed by the 40th Congress of the Union of Middle Eastern and
Mediterranean Pediatric Societies (UMEMPS), founded more than 60 years ago. In 2020 and 2021
the meeting was virtual due to the pandemic. The title of this year workshop, “Precision Neonatology
and Pediatrics” underscores the trajectory that necessarily assistance, research and
teaching are present today and will follow in the coming years. A view into the present for perinatology
and pediatrics through debates and shared experiences from all the world.
This year the proceedings of the Workshop will be published in the “Journal of Pediatric and
Neonatal Individualized Medicine” (JPNIM), which is indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, official
Journal UMEMPS (Union Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Pediatric Societies) and other 9 important
national societies of Italy, Greece, Portugal and Romania. At the end of 2023 JPNIM was
awarded a “Journal of High Cultural Value” prize by the Italian Ministry of Culture: the reasons of
success are presented in a specific paper of the Journal (J Pediatr Neonat Individual Med.
2024;13(1):e130104. doi: 10.7363/130104). In past years the journals were “Medical and Surgical
Pediatrics”, “Journal of Chemotherapy”, “Journal of Maternal Fetal Neonatal Medicine”, “Clinica
Chimica Acta” and JPNIM.IENTIFIC RATIONALE
Over the years, the Workshop has made its impression on science and has promoted a lively discussion
in an always serene and extremely constructive atmosphere. More than 1000 speakers
(330 Top International Scientists coming from more than 60 counties). Abstracts were sent by
more than 50 countries). In 2024 it was published the volume “A small history of the future. 20
International Workshops on Neonatology and Pediatrics in Cagliari”
This year’s meeting is organized in presence and will have the participation of several Presidents
of International and National Societies. The main topics that will be discussed cover cuttingedge
topics such as neonatology, nutrition, epigenetics, ethics, obesity (first marathon),
metabolomics (second marathon), environment, rare diseases, nutraceutics and may other topics.
The meeting is dedicated to neonatologists, pediatricians, obstetricians, perinatologists,
psychologists, pathologists, laboratory researchers and all those who work with the newborns
and children (hospital pediatricians, family pediatricians, nutritionists, pharmacists, obstetricians,
midwives, nurses…).
We look forward to welcoming you to this traditional appointment to discuss topics of the present
and keep us up to date on the latest results, both in clinical practice and research in neonatology
and pediatrics.
